Pornography Addiction - "Need Help"

I was listening to a well known program where individuals call in looking for professional advise. Most of the time the advise is good. One specific person called in with the following problem: He got caught by his wife looking at porn. He had been looking at porn for over 18 months. He said that his wife was frustrated and felt betrayed. He was looking for help. The radio host downplayed the problem with pornography and said there must be something else creating the wife wanting to leave. The caller said... read more >

Porn Addiciton Treatment and Recovery

I was talking to someone today about the Innergold website and how it helps people recover from porn addiction. I talked to them how pornography manipulates the brain and creates sexually addictive behaviors. This person was intrigued and asked me a couple questions: How does the process of becomming addicted to pornography happen? So how does someone get better? ... read more >

Porn Addiction - A Cure or a Process?

With sexual/pornography addiction counseling making new inroads there is more information that ever available to help addicts. Many of these programs are focusing on the makeup of the brain, understanding how sex/porn addiction alters the brain, and methods to heal and strengthen the brain to become sober from porn. Innergold focuses on the 2 part brain and gives the tools necessary for lifelong sobriety.

Comment from Client

A motivational speaker turned porn addiction healer.
Had my bishop turned me to this instead of Innergold I can guarantee with 100% surety that I would likely be worse off today than I was 3-4 years ago. I may have had some success and found some tools but this scares me to see these kind of unrealistic promises. It breaks my heart that individuals can go through a program giving so much motivation and hope just to set themselves up for future failure when they have a slip. The mind set of overcoming porn addiction as a short culmination event is ridiculous. I would like to say that something is better than nothing but the wrong kind of program can lead to failure and deeper depression when the slips happen. Their site is about a couple of rich well meaning individuals/doctors putting some money into a program that they probably truly believe will do good. The problem is that although some of their content is good they are very wrong in the overall goals and playing into the addictive behaviors of "wanting a cure" to push sales. This is wrong in my opinion.

There may be a handful who get the concept of the brain through their program and stay sober long term, but to say that in 6 weeks they can "transform" the chemical structure of ones brain is ludicrous. I am sure their intentions are sound and that they have helped a few people.

FRUSTRATED!

Another new site about curing pornography addiction. I'm sure there is good info on there but it is coming across as a miracle cure. 6 weeks to freedom after you pay $500 bucks. This guy has has done a lot of research but he is not a therapist but who wants to be one - at least that is my take. It is a nice looking site and will draw a lot of people in. It is such a subtle and enticing pull to think that you can be cured in 6 weeks.
